Description

Science in the Beginning is the first book in a hands-on, multilevel elementary science series that introduces scientific concepts using history as its guide. Because each lesson is built around an activity or experiment, it is engaging for all K-6 students. In addition, there are three levels of review for each lesson, so the parent/teacher can choose the depth at which each student is expected to grasp the material. The course contains roughly 90 hours of instruction, 35 of which are composed of hands-on activities.

The beginning of history is given in the Bible’s creation account, and this book uses the days of creation as a way of introducing a wide range of scientific concepts including the nature of light, energy conservation, the properties of air and water, introductory botany, our solar system, basic zoology, and some aspects of human anatomy and physiology. As the students learn about these scientific concepts, they are constantly reminded of the Creator who fashioned the marvels they are studying.

This product is a set consisting of the textbook plus the helps & hints book containing everything the parent/teacher needs to know for the subject.

My 1st grader loves this curriculum. It is the perfect kind of hands on he needs and so much fun for him! It has made him love science! Everything is laid out wonderfully for the parent/teacher to just open up and go. We ordered the box of supplies from Christian books and that has saved so much work on the front end of gathering the material. I recommend this curriculum to all my homeschooling friends!

Testimonials

We really like the experiments, and I’m not an experiment kind of gal...It’s the first science that we have gotten done consistently. I’m using it with 6th, 4th and 1st graders.

"I have found the curriculum absolutely phenomenal and I tell everyone I can about you & your work!! I would not have considered myself strong in the area of science & quite frankly not particularly interested. However that is no longer the case; not only do I now thoroughly enjoy science and learning, I have been successful with every experiment tried. We have learnt so much and thoroughly enjoyed joining the dots of science & life."

"...we've found it really user friendly (even though we've got a spread of ages.)"

"We study Dr. Wile's first book, 'Science in the Beginning', and we loved it. But then I got a little apprehensive about the next ones, because like you say, they were written with a different approach. I tried a different curriculum, with a more traditional sequence, and we were bored! One semester was enough. Since then we have done all four books, and we started with the 5th one this school year. What we love the most is that the lessons teach ONE concept, and the experiment, like you mentioned, cements that concept. I will not look into more Science curricula ever. "

"I have gone through the Junior High science books with my older children and I really liked the books. I got Science In The Beginning to go through with my younger kids and they love it. They couldn't wait for their dad to get home so they could show him what they learned that day! It really makes it easy for the kids to understand complex ideas with a fun experiment each lesson. I have tried other experiment based science curriculum for my younger students, but it lacked having God at its core and the kids were not enthused about it. I am sticking with this curriculum from now on, and I already told my homeschool friends about the great science books from this publisher."
